Paul, a freelance journalist and photographer, will give a talk on Desperately Seeking Gertrude (Bell) - on the trail of a great unsung Yorkshire hero.  She was an archaeologist who in the late 19th and early 20th century spent much of her life exploring and mapping the Middle East. Her local knowledge gained her great influence with high ranking British officials at the time and resulted in her participation in the Paris Peace Conference 1919 and the Cairo Conference 1921. Not to be missed!
