Beginning acrylics

Today we began our exploration of acrylics. A number of people were new to this medium, some had some experience of it. We began our journey by camouflaging a small coloured shape of paper, which meant that the major focus was on analysis of colour, with some attention paid to hinted shapes. This meant that we could learn about the discipline of the material without stress, as the emphasis was on colour. Because members of the group were trying to match an existing colour, they had to approximate towards that colour by carefully determining its constituent shades. The bi-product of that was that they learned about colour mixing, palette management and depth of tone. The matches of colour to disguise the little bits of coloured paper were very good!
