We had another excellent meeting on Thursday which I believe was enjoyed by all, even by those who hadn’t read the book! The only caveat would be the noise created by the cafe’s coffee machine and the many customers. Whilst most grateful for the friendly hospitality of the staff at Milk and Honey, we will be glad to return to Prego next month.
Several members mentioned that our novel, Knowledge of Angels by Gill Paton Walsh was a good selection. Although it was perhaps emotionally difficult to read in places, its several strong story lines woven together, its vivid descriptions, strong but sometimes provocative characters, classic philosophical debate and a dynamic narrative leading to a seemingly inevitable conclusion all made this a most memorable work of fiction. Words used by our members to describe the book include compelling, deep, precise, shocking, and self-questioning.
