Not a great day for a walk. Storm Kathleen was flexing her muscles. Bit daunting to hear that she was ushering in winds of up to 70mph but at least had triggered the warmest day of the year so far. So quite warm and thankfully no rain but a very strong wind that was buffeting us in all directions. No matter, our hardy group of nineteen set off determined to take the longer route around the perimeter of the park. Another obstacle. It was very muddy, so we abandoned that idea and tried where possible to stick to the footpaths instead of the field.
It was quite bracing and always good to meet up with friends old and new. Then we adjourned to the café for refreshments. One advantage was that the inclement weather must have deterred many as it’s usually very busy on Sunday mornings with visitors tucking into bacon butties but on this day, it was relatively quiet. So we pushed some tables together and engaged in an enjoyable hour or so of lively banter. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning after all.
